# 27 Does He Love Her Or Not?

Hello, my dearies! Do you know what we are going to discuss today? A song again! This time it is Andy Williams Can`t Get Used To Losing You . Listen to the song and read the lyrics afterwards. After you do this I have some questions to you! Unfortunately, I couldn`t find a video together with the lyrics:(
Question #1 What do the line `Can't get used to losing you` mean?
a) He used her and left her after some time
b) He wants to lose her but he can`t. (She follows him everywhere.)
c) He lost her but he still loves her and misses her.

Question #2 What do the words in bold in the line `Called up some girl I used to know`mean?
a) He has just met her.
b) He has known her for a long time.
c) He knew her in the past but they no longer keep touch.
Write your answers in the comments section and also do research what the phrases in bold (get used to doing something and used to do something) mean! I think it would be great if you learn where to use these structures. You are welcome to write more sentences that illustrate their meaning in the comments.
Any question? You are welcome to ask!

Snow in the Sahara

Have you ever heard that it snowed in the Sahara?

Which country is the Sahara Desert in?

What will happen to our planet if it snows in the desert?

What kind of climate do you like?

What will the weather be like in our country in 2115?

Did You Know That...

Now I want to tell you about some funny facts about a well known man, Bill Gates.

As you know, Bill Gates is one of the creators of the biggest company called Microsoft.
In his childhood he got a nickname - "Con"(which means "ботанік"). You can`t create a file with a name `con`in Windows. Just think, one man and the huge system, how this nickname affected his life.
So, you could try it on you computers, but don't forget it works only on Windows OS.

Bilbao - city carefree people

As soon as I saw Bilbao I was thinking about it  as the title of this article.
All people were smiling, all people were talking loud. It was 7 o'clock in the morning but many people were in the streets but they were not going to work. They were walking home after a night party though it was a working day.
Bilbao is a beautiful city. We took subway to the part of the city where we rented our flat. This part of the city has a name of Kasko Viekha. It is the old part of Bilbao.
When we went out of a subway station we were delighted very much. It seemed that an incredible atmosphere of a celebration filled the city.

Old part Bilbao has a very interesting architecture. When we were walking around the streets we got lost.
Narrow but clean streets were similar to each other. We started to orient a few days after arriving to Bilbao.
And there is one interesting fact. It does not matter  in what direction you go. You always come to one street (I forgot its name).
I can describe Bilbao very much.  But I can't to do it. I only want to give you some advice.  Once you have an opportunity to go to Bilbao don`t lose this chance. You are going to bring from Bilbao many positive impressions.

About the money...

A man comes in bathroom when his wife had  wash already. Suddenly, somebody knocked at the door. The woman covered up in a towel quickly, and opened the door. There was a neighbor Bob. When he saw her, he said: "I'll give you 800$, when you take off a towel". After thinking for a moment, the women stands naked in front of Bob.
Bob gave her a money and went away. The woman covered up in the towel back and went back to her husband. "Who was that?" - asked the husband. "Bob" - she replied. "Very good. Did he say something about 800$ he owes me?" The moral of the story: you have to share the information about the loan money with yours shareholders, otherwise you may find yourself in an unpleasant situation.

Birds,Nature...

Britain doesn't have official birds such as bald eagles in the United States.Activists decided to change this misunderstanding. They ballot online voting for the bird, which can  recognize the national symbol officially . There are 10 birds. You can vote for them until May. The robin has all chances to win.

 TOP 10 BIRDS FOR VOTING
 1. Mute swan
Weighing up to 9kg the familiar, elegant swan is also one of the world's largest flying birds.

By contrast, male and female blackbirds look rather different: the females are in fact brown, not black; these birds are familiar favourite in UK gardens with a beautiful mellow song.

 10. Blue tit
Another common garden visitor, especially of feeders and nest boxes, the blue tit in fact displays a vibrant mixture of blue, yellow, white and green.

# 26 The More You Scratch The More You Itch!

Hi! The last post with a Katie Melua song turned out to be one of your favourites. So I gave into temptation and decided to publish another one. This time it is Katie Melua Perfect Circle!
After you have listened and enjoyed the song, do the following activity based on phrasal verbs from the song lyrics. So look for them in there!

  1. ______ __ (phr v) to become separated from the main part: A button _____ __ her jacket.
  2. ____ __ __ (phr v) to get in particular situation or place after a series of events, especially when you did not plan it: I went on holiday to Paris but I got lost and ____ __ __ London.
  3. ______ ___ __ (phr v) to escape: Three men have ______ ___ __ a prison.
  4. _____ __ (phr v)to make something into the shape of a tube or ball: Painters arrived and ______ __ the carpet.
  5. _____ __ (phr v) to put something in a safe place and lock the door: Don`t forget to ____ __ when you leave.
So that you don`t forget what you learnt from previous posts look for sentences in the song that have make sb. do sth and let sb. do sth. structures. (If you don`t remember what these are, look them up in post #18:)

I am looking forward to your answers in the comments section! Don`t forget to mention if you liked the song:) Any questions, don`t be shy and ask!
P.S. I tried to keep the post as short as possible!

The Eagle And The Rabbit

The eagle was sitting on a tree, resting and doing nothing. A little rabbit asked him: "Could I sit here and do nothing, like you?" "Yes, why not?" - the eagle said. The rabbit sat under the tree and became relaxed. Suddenly, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit  and ate it. The moral of the story: if you want to sit and do nothing, you have to sit very-very high :)

Comma or not?

I would like to introduce a real Comma Queen. It is her nickname. Mary Norris  has been The New Yorker magazine editor since 1993. She controls that the world-famous edition is perfect from the grammatical point of view. So, I suggest watching this video.

# 24 On Second Conditional!

Hi! It turned out that this post is our 100th here which is quite memorable!
In spite of this I have decided to discuss something very down-to-earth today:) In grammar terms today`s topic is called Second Conditional. Although this term usually sounds very boring to students (that is why I added this bright and eye-catching photo:) and even scary, it is actually a very simple thing. Look at the examples below:
  • If I lived in Japan, I would have sushi every day.
  • If I had millions dollars, I would give a lot to charity.
  • If I met the Queen of England, I would say hello.
We USE Second Conditional for impossible, unreal and hypothetical situations.
We MAKE Second Conditional sentences this way: If+Past Simple, ...would+verb...
But the highlight of this post is some music:) For more examples, listen to this LOVELY SONG. Pay attention to Second Conditional sentences in there.Note that would is shortened to `d.
