10 Important Benefits of Reading Books

How many books have you read so far? Why should we be reading books, instead of spending our free time doing something else? The winter season is a perfect timing to read more books, as we have more time available, but how many of us invest time for this relaxing activity? To be honest, I have discovered more than 10 reasons why a habit of reading books has been useful in every aspect of life, but we have a list with only the most important benefits of reading books.
The importance of reading has been appreciated in many ways by most of us and, probably, the most important conclusion is that this activity makes us more human. According to recent researches, the act of reading is a beautiful yet unique experience that distinguish us from the animal kingdom. Moreover, it is a clear difference, though, between fictional or non-fictional books, but the power of reading is obviously an activity than doesn’t make us better, but human.
Here is a list of 10 important benefits of reading books:

1. Reading makes you smarter

It is obviously the essential purpose of this post, right? Reading isn’t just a relaxing activity, but a great opportunity to discover new and interesting things from various domains. Therefore, you’ll enlarge your knowledge found in books, no matter the area. It keeps you open minded and sharp at any age and offers new ways to see the world. Moreover, a person can’t become a better human being or achieve greatness in life, unless he gathers more information from all kind of resources.

2. It can help lower stress

I found this benefit to be extremely useful in a stressful period in our lives, as it is one of the most relaxing activity to help persons escape from their daily routine and enter in a new and exciting world. A research conducted by the consultancy firm Mindlab International at the University of Sussex has highlighted the idea that even six minutes of reading can be enough to reduce stress levels by 68 per percent. Moreover, it can help depressed or sad people to overcome easier difficult moments happening in their lives, as it is a true therapy for both mind and soul.

3. Reading improves our imagination

I don’t know about you, but after finishing a new book, I end up seeing the world from a new perspective. It becomes easier for me to find better solutions for any problem, as well as generating new ideas. Needless to say that imagination has a special place in our life. Being the principal component of creativity, it stimulates our thinking, help us expand our understanding of different things and creates new ideas. Through imagination, we escape from an overwhelming reality to enter in a better world created within words chosen carefully to describe new places, phenomena or people.

4. It improves also your memory

Sometimes I get angry because I have forgotten someone’s birthday or send a message to a friend. Books do have a great contribution to improve our memory, as they are an excellent tool to stimulate our brain activity and, thus, our memory. Unlike other relaxing activities (watching a movie or listen to a song), reading allows as more time to meditate, to have a special pause for analyzing what’s going on in our current life. The important benefit of reading books is also to increase the capacity to anticipate and build many hypotheses.
Time for notes

5. It develops our communication skills

It’s no secret to anyone that a person who has a vast knowledge in many domains is also a better communicator. Considering these current new technologies that demand a high level of communication – both written and oral – reading does help us, because we learn new words to express how we feel and things in general. For instance, each time I read a new book I do a very useful exercise: note new words or expressions in my agenda. I encourage you to do the same, find the meaning of these words/expressions in a dictionary and then try to memorize them; even use them in a conversation with your friends.

6. Reading improves personal relationships

When reading, many of us identify with one or two characters found in the book with their lifestyle, way of thinking or life experiences. We often compare these stories with ours and discover new perspectives of seeing or approaching a new problem. Therefore, we apply useful advice in our personal relationships, develop new techniques to interact with others. Our main goal is to have better relationships with our friends and family, so books are a great way to do it, as well as empathizing and socializing better.
A happy family

7. Reading is the perfect way to relax

We all feel a strong desire to escape sometimes from the quotidian and discover a new place. Besides traveling, reading creates the perfect gateway for quiet and relaxing moments. Probably the most important benefit of reading books is the disconnection from our reality for hiding in a better place with happy ends and memorable moments.
Time to read

8. Reading helps people to contribute for a better world

Readers are usually dreamers who imagine a better place on earth and are inclined to have artistic abilities, enjoying arts spectacles or different social and civic implications in various organizations. These persons are generally humble, idealist and willing to bring their contribution for a better world. Moreover, according to a study realized by National Endowment of Arts, people who read are more likely to get involved in charity acts or perform volunteer activities with better opportunities for a career growth and more financially rewarding jobs.
A community

9. It improves analytic skills

Another important benefit of reading books is to improve our analytic thinking with a better understanding of things and situations. Most of the times, books bring to our attention new subjects and ideas, challenging our brain’s components and boosting analytic skills. Thus, readers are able to identify better new patterns, make excellent connections and improve their knowledge.
Analyzing the situation

10. Reading helps to discover and reinvent yourself

The last but not least important benefit of reading is the capacity to discover and reinvent ourselves with books. It is good to know that not all books have a major impact on our lives, so it’s essential to make the right choices. Remember how large is internet and how many useful and free resources you can find from a large area of domains. Whether your tastes are in art, philosophy, self-help guides or romance novels, you can find them in bookstores or online.

Stories About Photos

Stories of those photos stay in the memory. But if you pay attention to the eyes of these people, you will feel much more.

Surprise: This is the moment when Harold Uitls who was born deaf-mute hears his first sounds using a hearing aid.

Innocence: This is a photo called Boy with sapphire eyes. When a photographer Vanessa Bristov published it, people thought she had used Photoshop. But when she showed other photos of this child a lot of humans were surprised. It is fantastic.

Panic: During the match Liverpool-Nottingham there was a big crowd. 96 people died and 700 people were injured. It was one of the worst events in England.

Despair: This woman suffered from hunger. She lied on the sidewalk.

Fatigue: This is an American soldier who was released from captivity.

My Favourite Day

My  favourite  day  is  the  31st  of  December. I stay  at  home  and  decorate  New  Year's Tree.
I decorate  my  house. I like this day because i  don't  go to job. I have  much  free  time. I  can
read  my favourite  books, and  spend  a  lot  of  time  with  my family.

My favorite picture

My favorite picture is a picture from Goverla. This photograph was taken by my best friend. Though it does not have bright colors but it has some relentless and severity.
Besides, I like this picture because I love mountains very much. People who like hiking says: Things which can be better then mountains are mountains where they have never been.
Of course, this picture is associated with memories. In that day we saw and felt all seasons. We returned to our camping very tired but very happy. Rarely it is possibile to sea sun, rain, snow and hail, strong wind and calmness in one day.

My Christmas Tree)))

I want to tell you about my Christmas tree. My husband, my dog and I live in one room, that`s why we don`t have a lot of free space. But everyone wants a beautiful Christmas tree  for the holidays. In general,I am against cutting out Christmas trees and I have never had an artificial Christmas tree. So I decided to make an ecological tree myself.

  • First of all, you need to go to the forest and take many dry branches.

  • At home you have to make the silhouette of the tree of branches on the floor.
  • Then you have to connect your branches with a cord.
  • Now you need to decorate your Christmas tree and put it on the wall.

That's all)))

My Favourite Memories

My friend told me once The best pix are in your memory...It is means that any photo made by machine never compares with pictures which you keep in own mind. The last time we take photos very rarely. It's a pity because I have a bad memory...Sometimes I look through my pictures and the past doings appear in my recollections.
We took this photos in spring four years ago when my family was on holiday in Crimea. We were in Saki.

There is cute pension where we cured our backs. We went on mud wraps by Dead Lake, did the massage, drunk mineral water, breathed sea air, bathed in The Black Sea and The Dead Lake.
And of course we fed the mosquitoes...)))

In first of May we decided to go from Saki to The Tarkhankut Cape in Olenevka for diving. It is more than 115 km on one way by car.  The Tarkhankut Cape is diver's Mecca. It has marvelous loundscape with the sharp rocks and the deep blue sea.

We want to see underwater museum The  Dux Alley in The Big Atlesh Bay very muchThere are more than 60 stone exhibits such as Lenin, Beethoven, The Eiffel Tower...But we forgot the wallet in pansion number...It was very funny )))
Earlier I thought I will be back here and will do this  next time. But now... Now I just keep my better memories in my head,in  my eyes and my heart...
And my memory flash ))))

My Favourite Photo of Lviv

My native city is incredible. I adore Lviv all year around. But in winter Lviv is wonderful. I should say that architecture is beautiful in Lviv. Because these small houses with big windows make me feel like in the19th century. In winter these houses are covered with snow and the most outstanding buildings are lit up at night. As a result, snow is bright and everything is picturesque. This photo shows the beauty and charm of Lviv. That's why I like this photo!

“Forrest Gump"

Hi! I want to tell you about my favourite actor. It’s Tom Hanks. He is a very successful American actor, director, producer, and writer. He can play any role you want. He was a slow-witted and naive man in “Forrest Gump”, an FBI bank fraud agent in  ”Catch me if you can”, Krakozhian traveler Viktor Navorski in “The Terminal”…and others interesting roles.  My favourite film is “Forrest Gump”. This is a story about a slow-witted, naïve and good-hearted man who had difficult  life, because of his illness. People teased him, laughed at him, but he had some friends because he was reliable and generous and he had a warm and feeling heart. Despite his below-average intelligence, his speed earns him an athletic scholarship to the University. After graduating, Forrest enlists in the United States Army and was sent to Vietnam. He saved four men and got The Medal of Honor.  Forrest earned a lot of money (his business partner bought shares of "some kind of fruit company"), but he didn’t understand that. He was an average man and nobody guessed that he was wealthy.  Besides, he had a smart son who he loved more than anything in the world.

Ukrainian Poets And Writers

There are a lot of beautiful poets and writers in my country.

Taras Shevchenko was a famous poet and artist. His life wasn't easy but he could write many wonderful poems. He is the biggest patriot of Ukraine. All Ukrainian people are proud of his poems and pictures. His poems are translated into different languages.

Ivan Franko was a famous Ukrainian poet, writer, public figure and scientist. He was born in Lviv. I like his poems written for children and I know one poem:

Піду я в поле на лови;

This poem I know from childhood. I like his poem Fox Mikita. It is a big poem.

One of the most famous poets was Lesya Ukrayinka. Her family experienced many misfortunes. Her uncle was an emigrant. Her aunt was accused of murder and sentenced to Siberia. Lesya's life was so short because when she was eleven years old she got tuberculosis. But her poems were wonderful!

Christmas In Lviv

I like Christmas. I think it is the most splendid  holiday. In my opinion Christmas is a family holiday. It is the most wonderful feeling in the world when  it is snowing outside, there are dishes on the table and you are surrounded by the most affectionate people.

Moreover, Christmas in Lviv  is really marvellous. There are lovely and pleasant people who always advise you what places you can attend, the most delicious food you can try and interesting events that you cannot skip in Lviv.
You can find everything in Market Square and near Lviv Opera Theatre. Also you can hear Christmas carols and see “vertep”.  Lviv at night is incredible. Everything   is coverd by small lantarns and the atmosph

My Favorite Books

Hello my dearies! I want to tell you about my favorite books. I read books on holidays.

I read book The Hunter Games  on summer holidays. It's about Katniss Everdeen. She was 16 years old. She participated in the 74th Hunter Games. This book has continuation. The film is based on the plot of this book.

Also I read Stories About Sherlock Holmes. They were amazing stories about interesting investigations of a clever detective. He used his method of deduction. Sherlock's assistant Doctor Watson always was surprised Sherlock's observation. I recommend this book to read.

I like two teen books of a Polish author Joanna Jagiello. The first is Coffee of  Cardamom and the second is called Chocolate of Chile. They are about Linka's heavy adult life.
Oh, I have many unread interesting books and I wait for my next holidays to read them.

Film Recommendation

Hello my dear classmates:))
As say American I desided to kill two birds with one stone and told you about:
1) my winter holiday
2) my favourite actor
3) to get you some recommendations about cinema

So, begin with, 31th of December 2014 at 8 a.m. my family went to the Carpathian for meeting with our friends - young couple with their one-years child . Our rout was a bit heavy because we traveling by bus for 5 hours . But it was worth it. We didn't meet more than 6 mounth and very missed each other. We met in renting 2-floors house in Mykulychin. We sat down near the fire-plase and spoke, and spoke, and spoke.  At 11 p.m. we set the celebratory table and waited President's speech. Unfortunately, it was first time in my life when I cried under the jingle chime...
Next days was a greate weather. There are sunny, uncloudy and hot. We cooked shashlik outdoors, went for a walk, took the photos, bought the souvenirs, tumbled in snow as for as youngest member team allowed. One day we went to Yaremche on our lovely Grazhda restaurant. In the evening we watched wonderul film with fantastic actor by the main part.

Do you guess what I mean about? Of course, this is unexcelled Jim Carrey in Mask. No doubt, he is one of my favourite comic actor. His gestures is impressing. Hi is very funny and joke. It's a pity he don't has any Oscar for his contribution in cinema industry...Hey, Hollywood, are you out of your mind?

And to crown it all I want to reccomend you very cool tv series Scrubs. It is the fater of House and Russian Interns. But a hundred times better and funny. There is a positive, an experience, a good and a joke mix. Pleasant review!!!!

My Christmas Tree

I celebrate Christmas and New Year with my family at home. Our tree is always in the living room. We don't have a lot of free space. So we have a small tree.
This year we wanted to have a patriotic tree. We bought a lot of yellow and blue decorations. Near the tree I put some statues of angels and a small snowman made of wool.
Our Christmas tree was always artificial but this year we bought a natural tree. This tree has a smell of pine needles. I love that smell!
